A Sober Check-In

I've been sober for 9.5 weeks! Crazy, right?! Almost two and a half months... when I first started, I thought I'd share an update on how it's going each month for the year, but now I'm thinking this might be my last update until the end.

It's just not as hard as I thought it would be and how many times can I write, "I went out and didn't have a beer?" I don't want to make light of the situation because I know that this CAN be extremely hard for some people and I respect their struggle and desire for change.

3 Things I Hate Doing, But Do Anyway...

I guess this would be considered part of 'adulting' - doing things you don’t like to do, or even hate, because you ‘have to’ - but really, we don’t have to do anything. That’s part of the myth of being a human. There isn’t anything we have to do. There’s a lot of societal pressure for us to do things we should do, but we don’t actually have to do any of it.

I’m a big fan of people coming to that realization so that they can then do the work to determine what they want to do with their lives instead of living the life they think they should. That being said, living a life you want still requires doing a lot that you don't want to do or even hate doing.

Health over Hustle

It's not popular to say, but I don't care & I can't wait to have my long hair back to prove it.

Over the last year I have learned more than I could ever fully express. I’ve read books, listened to books, watched/ listened to Ted talks, watched YouTube, and listened to COUNTLESS podcasts on and about EVERYTHING under the sun. I have fully embraced my love of learning and have been a complete sponge this last year, letting myself follow one rabbit after the other.
