LEAFY PLANTS OR VEGETABLES.
Yeah, so - this week's Color Story isn't centered around an adjective at all - it's centered around my meal planning - haha. Over the last couple of weeks, I've been thinking a lot about trying Vegetarianism out, at least as a challenge, to sort out some dietary mysteries.
I've experimented over the years with cutting grains and dairy, but the only things I haven't tried cutting out long term are meat and sugar. Since I'm still experiencing my allergy symptoms pretty regularly, I've been thinking I might need to be a vegetarian. Sighhhh... I really hope not.
While sorting through all of that, the colors of different types of 'Greens' started jumping out at me. I love the various shades of green and pops of purple throughout. Also - rainbow chard - gorgeous! Playing with all of the different colors really made for some interesting color palettes, but this one was my favorite.
I'll be going back to adjectives as the driving theme next week - but until then, maybe eat a salad?

Strong, Free & Courageous - the three words that inspired this week's Color Story and led to a brand design focused on Brave & Beautiful Women!
The second week focused on 'Classy' as the theme word - only this time - with a more masculine take.
When I think of a 'Classy' period in time, my mind goes wandering off to the Victorian Era, the 1920s, 1940s and the Mid-Century Modern Era. For this color story, I went with a whimsical, feminine direction including some Mid-Century Modern and 1920s influences as well as the epitome of class herself - Audrey Hepburn.

Whenever I think of the word 'Friendly' this quote always comes to mind, although I don't usually think of You've Got Mail until the fall when all I want to do is buy bouquets of freshly sharpened pencils...
Heading into 2017, I've got a lot of goals and dreams I'm seeking to make progress in and achieve. One of those areas is my design work and blogging. Consistency is hard for me if I don't have built-in systems. Last year I worked on creating those systems for my design process, but didn't quite get there with my blogging. This year, I'm diving in deeper to REFINE [hint hint] those processes and build in the structure and accountability I need in order to grow and make progress.
As part of that, I'm starting this Color Story Project in which I go through the process of designing a mood board and color palette from start to finish each week.
This week's Color Story is dedicated to one of my Best Friends, my Shnookums, Natalie! Today is her birthday and when I think of her I think of a bubbly, goofy, loving, silly, loyal and sunshine-y lady - it's one of the reasons I call her my Sunshine - no really, I do.
